What is Subluxation?

Through neurologically-based chiropractic care we work with the body and the nervous system to correct subluxations. The big idea of what we work with is that your brain and your nervous system control everything in your body. For your heart to beat, your lungs to breathe and for all the different muscles in your body to work right your nervous system has to work properly because that’s what tells everything else what to do. The brain sends signals down through the spinal cord and out through the nerves to all the different parts of your body. What protects our nervous system are the bones of the spine. So when our spine is in the correct position, ultimately that’s when you’re going to function at your best because there’s no pressure or inflammation on any of those nerves. Due to traumas like car accidents, slips/falls or daily repetitive stressors those bones in your spine can actually get locked up, stuck and restricted, and over time that leads to degeneration which ultimately puts pressure on the nerves and causes problems. This is what we call a subluxation in Chiropractic. During your initial examination in our office we will be looking for where these subluxations are located in your spine and how we can help you through neurologically-based chiropractic care.
